Methods of Transportation

To get around the massive kingdom of Hyrule in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, players must master travel by horseback, foot, and glider. The ever-reliable horse allows you to traverse large distances quickly without tiring; different breeds offer varying travel speeds and can be customized with tack items.

If you like to stay on foot, utilize environmental aids like ledges and vines to scale rock faces or leap across bottomless chasms. But the most exciting form of transportation is the paraglider which gives players a bird’s eye view of the beautiful landscape below.

There’s no doubt that these methods of transportation will return in Tears of the Kingdom. Gameplay trailers for Tears of the Kingdom tease new transportation methods, such as larger gliders and teleportation methods as seen in the trailer above.

Map Details

One of the most impressive elements of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is its massive, sprawling map. Not only is it richer and more detailed than most video game maps, but it also functions as a source of exploration and discovery as you uncover new points of interest throughout your journey.

This sense of adventure is further augmented by the variety of terrain – from lush forests to rippling deserts to sparse tundra – making each area feel unique and excitingly unpredictable. The map for Breath of the Wild was expansive and visually stunning.

It spanned the breadth of the entire kingdom of Hyrule and allowed players to explore a rich and diverse fantasy world. Its wide array of locations gave adventurers plenty of places to visit, whether it was small villages or lush forests.

Tears of the Kingdom will pay just as much attention to detail- down to individual plants, wildlife, and landscapes – that make traversing the world feel both daunting and delightfully explorative. It will also feature the ability to go above Hyrule into different lands in the sky.

I imagine these will be their own miniature cities with side quests and main quests for plenty of exploration.

Since Tears of the Kingdom is based in the same general region as BOTW, there’s always something new waiting to be discovered on this vast map, giving players a reason to revisit old locations and start fresh adventures across Hyrule.

Dungeons

The dungeons in Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have garnered a lot of attention as some of the best levels in video game history. It did significantly stray from the traditional Zelda format though. Instead of offering dungeons, it opted to have 120 ‘shrines’ where players had to solve puzzles and beat ‘bosses.’

Each shrine from BOTW is filled with puzzles, enemies, and powerful boss fights that must be completed before accessing the treasures within. Not only do these challenges encourage exploration to discover hidden rewards, but they also give players a sense of accomplishment when finished.

Thanks to their dynamic design, each shrine can feel like an entirely different world waiting to be explored and conquered. So, will Tears of the Kingdom have shrines or dungeons?

From this screenshot of TOTK, it looks like there could be both shrines and dungeons.

It has also been rumored that dungeons will return in Tears of the Kingdom. It is speculated that the dungeons in Tears of the Kingdom will be individually themed, meaning a variety of new and unique bosses.

Since I’ve recently played Link’s Awakening remastered (which we rated highly in our top-10 zelda games review), I’m picturing Tears of the Kingdom to have similar challenging dungeons.

Tears of the Kingdom could also bring back the Chamber Dungeons feature from Link’s Awakening remastered, where players can customize their own dungeons.

Bosses

The bosses in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are incredibly memorable and provide a dynamic challenge, rewarding players for their efforts. Link must use problem-solving skills to take them down. Every fight becomes progressively more difficult as his journey continues.

Judging from some leaked screenshots, it looks like Guardians will be making their return to TOTK.

Reaching the final boss with just the right amount of health and saving up items is essential to put all that was learned throughout the game to good use. Everything culminates in an intense, thrilling battle – testing players’ wit, skill, strength, and speed.

While there will be some new and exciting bosses to discover by playing the game, there are some bosses from Breath of the Wild that are confirmed to return:

Hinox

The Hinoxes from Breath of the Wild are a group of giant monsters that wander Hyrule, their hulking frames and surprisingly intelligent minds creating the perfect recipe for a thrilling fight.

They may seem intimidating at first glance, but taking them down can be an incredibly rewarding experience as they drop some of the best weapons and items when defeated. Hinoxes usually carry treasure chests with special items.

Bokoblins

We can see from leaked images on the trailer that there will be Bokoblins returning too.

I found that Bokoblins were a great way to ‘get better’ at BOTW, helping to practice my fighting techniques.

Yes, they are annoying when just starting out. But, as your Link character progresses, they become basically harmless and are generally avoidable.

Talus

The imposing mini bosses, the Talus, made their appearance in a trailer for Tears of the Kingdom. The Talus is a peculiar and powerful enemy found in various locales throughout the world of Breath of the Wild. It appears to be a large boulder-like creature that moves as if it were alive and is surprisingly durable, able to withstand much force by Link even with his strongest weapons.

With each trailer for the highly anticipated game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, fans become more and more excited to get their hands on the game. After all, battling giant monsters has always been one of the strongest aspects of the series, and this new installment looks to take it to even greater heights than before. It promises not only intense boss battles with towering enemies but also a vast open world with an engaging storyline.
